FRANKNESS V/S FLATTERY

Some people say that today more than the obvious talent the most important art required is flattery. well i totally disagree with the statement. it is totally against my principles. i totally believe in the line in the book "jane eyre" by charlotte bronte:

" frankness and rudeness is better than flattery."

but my question is that do we really need flattery as our arms and ammunition when we enter the dog eat dog professional world??????

in the book fountainhead by ayn rand, there are 2 talented architects: peter keating and my hero howard roark. peter keating becomes very popular due to his flattery techniques while roark is more talented than peter but is still unknown!!!!! was flattery the difference????? it might be but i still think that if you work hard and speak when its needed then there is no need of flattery. i experienced this even in my own life: on eof my colleugues is a very sweet talker and so she is liked and appreciated by the whole college. she even takes the credit from her group because this wonderful artistic quality.BUT ALL THIS DOESN'T MEAN THAT I'M AGAINST PARTICIPATION AND MAKING YOUR VOICE HEARD....BUT THERE IS A THIN LINE BETWEEN MAKING UR VOICE HEARD AND SHOUTING....................

NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS I'LL NEVER BOW DOWN TO THIS RULE.....WHAT ABOUT YOU GUYS?????????????????????????????????????
